VISION

TO IGNITE LEADERS FOR KINGDOM CULTURE TRANSFORMATION IN CHRIST

The beliefs below guide and lead us at Ignite Church. The not only serve as a guide to our church, but are a way of life for any believer. Our beliefs serve as foundational pillars in our journey with Jesus.

GOD

We believe there is one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving. We believe this world and all humanity began with Him and is all held together by Him. God is eternally existent in three persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, also known as The Trinity.

(Genesis 1:1,26,27; Genesis 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

JESUS

We believe Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. He was born of a virgin to God as His Father and Mary as His earthly mother. While on earth, Jesus was 100 percent God and 100 percent man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He died on the cross for humankind and thus atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory.

(Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1, John 1:14; John 20:28-29; Philippians 2:5-6; 1 Timothy 2:5, 1 Timothy 3:16).

RESURRECTION

We believe Jesus Christ was physically resurrected from the dead in a glorified body three days after His death on the Cross. As a result, both the saved and the lost will be resurrected. Those who are saved, are saved to the resurrection of life; and those who are lost, are lost to the resurrection of eternal separation from God.

(Luke 24:15-16, 36, 39; John 2:19-21; John 20:26-28; John 21:4; Acts 24:15; 1 Corinthians 15:42, 44; Philippians 1:21-23; Philippians 3:21).

THE BIBLE

We believe the Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the authoritative Word of God. It alone is the final authority for determining all doctrinal truths. In its original writing, the Bible is inspired, infallible, and inerrant and therefore fully reliable and relevant to our lives today.

(Proverbs 30:5, Romans 16:25,26; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21).

SALVATION

In order to receive forgiveness and “new birth,” we must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and submit to His will for our lives. We believe we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human effort.

(Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; Galatians 2:16; Galatians 3:18; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Hebrews 9:22).

REPENTANCE

We believe repentance is the commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Christ. In order to receive forgiveness, we must repent from our sins, which allows us to receive His redemption and to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

(Acts 2:21; Acts 3:19; 1 John 1:9).

BAPTISM

Baptism is a symbolic act to publicly profess one’s salvation. God commands it, but our salvation is not reliant upon it. We practice full-immersion baptism, symbolizing the process of death and resurrection that Jesus went through for us.

(Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38)

BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost and is the promise of the Father, sent by Jesus after His ascension. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit gives us the “Dunamis” (power) of God to live how He wants us to live and to be witnesses of Jesus Christ to the whole earth. The purpose of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is to empower the Church to preach, teach, and spread the Gospel throughout the whole earth.

(Joel 2:28-29; Matthew 3:11; Mark 16:17; Acts 1:5; Acts 2:1-4,17,38-39; Acts 8:14-17; Acts 10:38,44-47; Acts 11:15-17; Acts19:1-6).

GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is manifested in our lives through various spiritual gifts, or tools, that are meant to build and sanctify the Church, demonstrate the validity of the resurrection, and confirm the power of the Gospel. The Bible’s list of these gifts is not necessarily exhaustive, and the gifts may occur in various combinations. All believers have a combination of the gifts working in their lives on a daily basis and that, on certain occasions, believers who are baptized in the Holy Spirit have access to all the gifts or tools as needs arise in their world around them. These gifts always operate in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters.

(Hebrews 2:4; Romans 1:11, Romans 12:4-8; Ephesians 4:16; 1 Timothy 4:14; 1 Timothy 1:6-7; 1Corinthians 12, 1 Corinthians 14).

ETERNITY

We believe people were created to exist forever. We believe we will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. We believe that Heaven is the eternal dwelling place for all believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After living one life on earth, the unbelievers will be judged by God and sent to Hell, where they will be eternally tormented with the Devil and the Fallen Angels.

(Matthew 5:3,12,20; Matthew 6:20; Matthew 19:21; Matthew 25:34,41; John 17:24; 2 Corinthians 5:1; Hebrews 11:16; 1 Peter 1:4; Mark 9:43-48; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 14:9-11; Revelation 20:12-15; Revelation 21:8).

SECOND COMING

Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish his authority on earth. This will occur at a time undisclosed by scripture. So, we live everyday in expectation of Christ’s return.

(Matthew 24:30, 26:63-64: Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8; Revelation 1:7)

THE CHURCH
We believe the church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for fulfillment of Jesus’ Great Commission. Every person who is born of the Spirit is an integral part of the church as a member of the body of believers. There is spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

(Ephesians 1:22, Ephesians 2:19-22; Hebrews 12:23; John 17:11, 20-23).

FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY

The five-fold ministry positions of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers are gifts given to each local church and the universal church. These gifts are for the equipping of believers to spread the gospel of Christ. We believe both men and women are sovereignly chosen by God for these ministry positions.

(Ephesians 4:8-13; 1 Corinthians 12:4-30, 14:29-31; Galatians 3:26-29; Philippians 4:3; Romans 16:1-7)

COMMUNION

Communion (The Lord’s Supper) is a unique time when the elements of bread and juice express, in a spiritual way, the body and blood of Christ. Communion is taken by believers in remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

(Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 16:16; Acts 8:12, 8:36-38, 10:47-48; 1 Corinthians 10:16, 11:23-25)
